Right after you sign in, Whip walks you through a short setup: confirm you’re 18+, pick a handle, tell Whip whether you’re here to build or to play, choose exactly 3 interests, and agree to content-safety checks. It takes about a minute, and everything you set here can be tuned later.

Confirm your age

Enter your date of birth. Whip is an 18+ app, so if you’re under 18, this is a hard stop. Your date of birth is set once and can’t be changed afterward — see age requirements for the why.

Pick a handle

Your handle is your @username across Whip. It’s 3 to 20 characters, and Whip checks availability as you type so you know right away if it’s taken. Choose something you like — you can change it later, but only once every 30 days.

Tell Whip what brings you here

Pick whether you’re mainly here to build apps or to use apps. This only helps Whip tailor what you see first — it doesn’t lock you out of anything. You can always do both.

Choose exactly 3 interests

Pick 3 of Whip’s 7 categories so your feed starts with things you actually care about:

  • Food & Lifestyle
  • Tech & Internet
  • Style & Self-care
  • Money & Career

Agree to content-safety checks

Finally, you’ll consent to Whip screening things like handles, bios, and comments to keep the community safe. This uses trusted AI providers and is required to use Whip. More in privacy & your data.
Once you’re through, you land on your Home screen, ready to create your first app or explore the feed.

Editing your profile later

Changed your mind about your handle, or want to add a bio? Head to your Profile tab, tap Edit Profile, and update:

Change your @username here — remember it can only change once every 30 days, so pick one you’ll be happy with for a while.

Your bio

Add a short bio, up to 150 characters, to tell people who you are and what you build.
A couple of things to know: your display name can’t be changed right now, and your profile photo comes straight from the account you signed in with (Apple or Google) rather than being uploaded in Whip. Everything else about how your profile appears to others lives in profiles.

Common questions

Yes — tap Edit Profile on your Profile tab. You can change it once every 30 days, so choose thoughtfully.
Three keeps your starting feed focused without boxing you in. As you like, save, and play apps, Whip learns what you enjoy and adjusts what it shows you.
Your photo comes from your Apple or Google sign-in account, so update it there. In-app photo uploads aren’t available right now.
